The Wrights Estate Agency team have been supporting the fantastic Willow charity for a number of years now, raising funds through a variety of initiatives from cakes sales to race sponsorship. Willow is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days. Since 1999 Willow has fulfilled more than 14,000 Special Days for young adults living with life-threatening conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease.
Last year Director Melvin Wright came up with the innovative idea of raising funds for Willow by creating a bespoke cycling jersey for riders to wear in the Willow Herts 100 Bike Ride. This jersey was sponsored by companies from both the Hertfordshire area and the New Forest and included all of their logos. We also put together a team of over 100 riders who took part in the event by riding either a 25 mile, 60 mile or 100 mile course to raise sponsorship money for Willow. The event was a huge success and Wrights managed to raise a total of £22,000. We were also really proud that our work for Willow was recognised by Agents Giving who awarded our company the ‘Special Fundraising Award’ for 2017.
However at Wrights we always like to exceed expectations and smash targets and so this year we’ve set ourselves a fantastic fundraising challenge of raising £50,000 for Willow. We’ve put together a new look cycling jersey and reached out to even more businesses for sponsorship. We’ve recently held two information events with Willow to tell people more about what this amazing charity does and really get them on board with our fundraising. We’re pleased that we received such an amazing response and that people have been really excited about joining in. In fact our cycling jersey now includes the logos of 35 companies. Our keen bike riders (old and new) are also busy training for the Willow Herts 100 Bike Ride which takes place on the 6th May and starts at Stanborough Lakes in Welwyn Garden City.
Our Welwyn Garden City branch are also planning on taking teamwork to a whole new level as they will be completing the bike ride on a 7 seater conference bike! This should be quite a challenge so look out for them and give them a cheer on the 17th May 2020 if you see them going past.
